Crime Boss: Heists in Rockay City
Crime Boss immerses players in thrilling heists executed by teams of four criminals. As a player, you take control of one criminal, collaborating with either AI companions or fellow players to pull off high-stakes robberies from locations like banks, jewelry stores, and armored trucks. The gameplay has drawn comparisons to the popular Payday series, focusing on strategy and quick decision-making.
In each mission, players must gather enough loot before police reinforcements arrive. Missions can be undertaken as quick stand-alone challenges or through six engaging mini-campaigns known as “Urban Legends,” where three missions are interconnected by a loose narrative. For those seeking a deeper experience, a single-player campaign introduces roguelike elements, allowing players to expand their territory in Rockay City after the previous crime lord’s downfall.
Players manage gang members, engage in turf wars, purchase weapons, and embark on missions to seize control of new areas. However, caution is key—if your character dies during a mission, the quest to become the ultimate Crime Boss is over. Similarly, hired crew members who face death or arrest are permanently lost. With a backdrop reminiscent of Miami Vice, the game’s atmosphere is heavily inspired by classic 1990s crime films, notably Heat.
