Age of Empires Online brings the renowned real-time strategy experience of Age of Empires into an exciting, quest-driven online format. Just as in previous games in the series, most missions involve building a strong economy, raising a formidable army, and defeating any opponents in your way. Occasionally, you’ll encounter more unique mission objectives that add variety to the gameplay.
Capital City Development
Between missions, you can develop your capital city, where players equip their units, unlock new technologies, and craft special items. Items can be obtained through missions, purchases, or crafting, each providing distinct per-unit bonuses. For example, a copper sword could add a 3% damage boost for Hoplites, enhancing their effectiveness in battle. Technologies are unlocked by earning technology points, which are gained through leveling up. Only these unlocked technologies can be researched during missions, allowing for more strategic depth.
Diverse Missions
The game includes both story-driven missions and optional side quests, with certain missions repeatable for additional experience points, items, and gold. This blend of story and side missions offers players varied ways to develop their city and army, making every playthrough fresh and rewarding.
